All scanning is done on commercial grade Noritsu technology (shown below), representing an investment in excess of £100,000.
The system is designed for high speed scanning while still producing consistent high quality results.
Each frame is individually inspected and changes made to the contrast and exposure as required.
You have a 24 exposure film which has been cut into strips of 4. You count the frames and find that 19 out of 24 have come out. The price is 19 x 30p = £5.70.
The prices above apply to both 35mm BW and colour negative films. If you have E6 slides in any format, please refer to Slide Scanning.
Our Standard scanning produces jpeg file sizes of around 4mb, 1024x1536px (when opened in Photoshop) and is good enough to print to A3.
Our high resolution scanning produces files sizes of 2048x3072px, around 18mb, (when opened in photoshop) and is good enough to print to A1.
Digital Ice is used when scanning colour films. This removes all scratches, artifacts and dust. However, the Digital Ice system does not with Black and White Films.
So some scratches and dust marks may remain on the image after scanning.
Before scanning, we make sure that the equipment and film is as dust free as it can be, but inevitably, dust, scratches and other artifacts will be seen on the scans, especially at higher magnification.
Clients should be aware of this limitation as a condition of putting work in with us and should also be prepared to photoshop these Black and white scans as required.
