Bulgaria have now adopted EU passport and Visa standards which means that Bulgarian Visa and Passports Photos must conform to the internationally agreed Biometric Standard for passports. Few passport and visa photo photo studios in Europe are equipped to do properly. The Bulgarian Embassy specifies the following

3 photos required at 35mm x 45mm
Gray background (20% specified)
The head size must be between 25 and 35mm
The passport photo must be printed on MATT paper
Bulgaria specifies that the image MUST be on taken on FILM
The paper used should be between 0.12 and 0.20mm in weight
No hats and hankerchiefs are allowed in the photographs
Photographs of persons with beards and moustaches are allowed
If beards or moustaches are shaved off, ID photo must be redone
Photographs of persons with wigs are allowed if they are worn permanently

Bulgarian Passport and Visa Photos :: Additional Information

Citizens of the UK and USA citizens with valid passports can stay in Bulgaria without visas for 90 days within a a 6 month period.Bulgaria has adopted EU standards which means that citizens of Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia Mexico do not need Bulgarian Visas. Citizens of Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Salvador, New Zealand, and Guatemala, need only a valid passport. No Bulgarian Visa is required
