In September 2006, the Czech Republic introduced biometric passports. These new passports , issued in full compliance with European Union regulations regarding passport security and biometrics, have a new design and additional new security features.

The addition of a biometric chip stores the Czech passport holder’s photo and personal details. Facial recognition maps various features on the face, for example, the distances between eyes, nose, mouth and ears. The measurements are digitally coded and this can then be used for comparison and verification purposes. Biometric technology is safe as facial biometrics can be taken from a good quality passport photo.

• 2 passport photos required for Czech passport applications
• The dimensions must be 45 x 35mm
• Both monochromatic and color photos are acceptable;
• The photo may not be older than six months;
• The distance between the top of the head without hair and the bottom of the chin must be 32-36mm in the photo
• The head must be straight and in the middle of your Czech passport photo
• Both the head and the shoulders must be turned straight towards the camera
• The photo must be taken straight from the front
• The subject must look straight at the camera
• The expression must be neutral, mouth closed and eyes open and clearly visible
• The passport photo must show the subject’s full face
• Tinted glasses and eye patches are allowed only for medical reasons
• The photo must be taken against a plain neutral and light background with no shadows
• The passport photo must be printed on high-quality photograph paper, must be sharp and in focus, without scratches, stains or wrinkles
• No manipulation or retouching of the passport photos is allowed;
• The lighting must be uniform in your Czech passport photos

Czech Republic Visa Applications :: General Info

Everyone, no matter whether or not they need a visa to travel to the Czech Republic and no matter for what reasons, must comply with the following

• During you stay you cannot work unless you have a work visa.
• All passports must be valid for at least three months beyond the scheduled date of departure from the Czech Republic. You may be refused entry to the Czech Republic if no valid passport exists.
• You must register with the local police for stays over 30 days
• When crossing the Czech Republic border you must , upon request of customers produce documents confirming accommodation details , medical  insurance and financial arrangements to cover the cost of your stay in the Czech Republic
