My name is Dominic Shannon

I have lived in Somers Town Camden all my life. I’ve been a licensed London Taxi Driver for 9 years, during this time I have Photographed London from the seat of my cab. It all started when I had an accident in my Cab and thought if only I had a camera! With a photo I could prove it was the other drivers fault from the position of the vehicles, the next day I bought a disposable camera and left it in the glove compartment of my cab,

I had never been interested in photography but I found myself taking what seemed to me like random photos of road views, cab reflections, bridges, street life and so on, things we all see every day but I was photographing it, over the course of time I moved onto a picture phone, then to a digital camera. I was driving people in and around London all day, to landmarks, City of London, West End night life and thought I would photograph London from the seat of my cab as I see it whilst driving around in my working day and night.

I printed off a selection of photos which I used to show passengers in the back of my cab on their journeys and always had a great response with people saying they hadn’t seen London photographed from this angle before and saying I should Exhibit my photos, my response was always “yeah maybe one day” and think no more of it, after all these years I recently put together some photos into book form and showed a photographic studio who liked the concept and images and gave me wall space to Exhibit my photos, the photos you see on this link are just a taste of what’s to come, all is welcome so come along and see many more of, LONDON through the eyes of a CABBIE ! !
