Betacam, Betacam SP and Betacam SP-S video format was first produced by Sony at the beginning of the 80's, and superceded professional U-Matic tapes. Betacam SP was rapidly adopted by television studios around the globe and was a very popular and versatile professional video format.
There are two tapes sizes, the smaller ones look like, and are often mistaken for, Betamax tapes.Betacam video cannot be played on Betamax equipment. We have the capacity to play both small and large betacam tape formats
For earlier recordings we use the excellent Sony BVW-22P Betacam deck. For later recordings, we use a Sony UVW1200P deck which has an onboard digital time base corrector resulting in the highest quality possible transfers to DVD and digital AVI files.

New Video Transfer Website
We have a new web site for video conversion work - see London-Video-Cine.
If you cannot make it into our shop simply post your tapes to us - don't forget to include your instructions, address and telephone number. On receipt of your work we will call you, confirm your instructions, and take payment by credit card over the phone.
There is also an option to pay online. You can simply include your receipt with your tapes when you post then to us. Based in London, we are a specialist UK video to DVD transfer company. We operate under the Kodak umbrella of excellence, service and quality, giving you complete peace of mind when shopping online with us or in person at our central London studios
Betacam Computer Editable AVI FIles
Some of our customers require editable files from Betacam video tapes for editing on a PC or MAC. We normally supply uncompressed AVI files which can play on both systems, bur other file formats are available on request. Editable file sizes can be very large (13gb per hour) so you will need to supply an external hard drive or large capacity USB stick.
Although DVDs last a lifetime without deterioration in quality one scratch or scuff mark will render it unplayable. For this reason we strongly advise you to order an extra DVD back up copy of your video tapes - the cost is only £5 per tape, even less when having multiple tapes converted.
By asking us to transfer your video you are giving us an assurance that you are the copyright owner or that you have permission from the copyright owner to duplicate the work.
We only accept video transfer work on this basis.
